LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - SEPTEMBER 30, 2018 President Jim opened the meeting at 12:15 pm. Upcoming Events: Next week’s program will be used for committee meetings. Members were asked to provide feedback whether monthly committee meetings are necessary. Game night will be held Oct. 13th at the Green’s; a sign- up sheet is being sent around. Please sign-up if you are able to attend. Grant training will be held in October, President Jim will advise of the date and further details. The District Conference will be held October 20th at $100.00 a ticket. Tracy Ford noted that there will be a whole list of fun sessions to do and encouraged all Rotarians to attend. The Appliance Raffle will be held on October 28th. Please continue to sell your tickets. The Rotary Christmas party will be held on November 30th at the Guginos’. Announcements: Congratulations to Bob Boyce for being named LeRoyan of the Year. Mary Young summarized the Boardmeeting and noted that a $600.00 grant was approved for the Rotary Assistance Music Program which assists children in grades 4 – 8 with music subscriptions. The Strategic Planning Committee continues to work on the plan. Mary Young presented a gift to President Ellison from her trip to Africa. Service opportunities: Community Kitchen needs volunteers. The next training will be held Oct. 2nd from 6-7:15 p.m. This Saturday (Sept. 22nd) LeRoy High School is hosting a cross country tournament. EarlyAct is looking for adult volunteers to assist with the concession stand from 8 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. as well as volunteers for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Scott McCumiskey needs volunteers to assist him Friday (Sept. 21st) to put up the Rotary tent at Hartwood Park (Eric Fix volunteered to assist with his sons). Check Presentation: President Jim presented a check for $1500 to Sami Vagg and Christine Gephart for their work with Rotary Youth Services including the LHS Interact and Earlyact Clubs. Missed Meetings: Various members with welcomed back after missing meetings including Bruce Baker, Bob Boyce, Larry Boylan, Bart Dambra , Chris Biviano, Ron Pangrazio, Lynn Belluscio, Ben Deragon, Tracy Ford, Tony Gugino, Jason Karcher, and Phil Plossl. Fines: Bruce Baker, Larry Boylan and Jim Ellison contributed to the cause for their trip to Rome. Chris Biviano who impressed all with his knowledge of trivia and Bob Boyce who paid “Happy Dollars” for his award. Program: Lynn Belluscio was our presenter and handed out 2018 LeRoy History Quizzes to all members. Members spent the remainder of the meeting working through 28 questions on the history of LeRoy. The questions were thought- provoking and informative. Thank you, Lynne! There will then be a presentation on the option of creating an ambulance (special) district. This particular forum will be for information sharing only - the Town and Village Boards will establish a process for public input thereafter, prior to any decisions being made.
