There was finally a fall feel in the air for some football! The Knights headed into the game with a 3-0 record, after beating Bath 6-0 in the home opener under the lights at Hartwood. Then heading to Dansville to hand the Mustangs a 40-6 loss. GVB gave the Knights their third win by forfeiture due to field availability. The Mustangs won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. The Knights offense took the field at their own 35 and failed to get a first down on four plays, giving the Mustangs the ball in Knights territory. The Mustangs took the ball down to the Knight 3 yard line on a 12 play drive. A Mustang fumble recovered by Jesse Hubbard gave the Knights the ball back at their own 5. After a nice run on second down behind the block of Jackson Hubbard and Dansville penalty the drive stalled and LeRoy was forced to punt giving Dansville the ball at the Knight 47. The Knight defense backed Dansville up on two consecutive 6 yard losses by Jacob Kochmanski and Jesse Hubbard. On third and long the Mustangs Conner Gardner (#57) broke free down the left sideline for a 59 yard Touchdown. The Knight defense would stop the P.A.T. making the score 6-0 Dansville. The Knights would gain 27 yards by Roland Goodenough as time ran out in the half, leaving Dansville up 6-0. On the first play of the second half the Mustangs would score on a 65 yard run by Tyler Caldwell (#8). Conner Gardner (#57) would add the 2 point conversion where the Knight defense looked to stack him up short but was unsuccessful, making it 14-0 Dansville. The Knight offense ever determined came out looking for a score of their own. After a 24 yard run on second down by Roland Goodenough, Drew Beachel would hand off to Luke Mosko behind the blocks of Corey Brown and Luke Offen and take it to the house for a Knights 44yd TOUCHDOWN! The 2 point conversion good with a Beachel run! LeRoy 8 Dansville 14. Dansville would then go on a long 12 play drive chewing up clock in the fourth quarter, only to fumble the snap into the waiting arms of Michael Warner. The Knights took over at their own 15 with a 28 yard burst by John “HAWKEYE” Bogan on first down only to fumble it away on the next play. With 3:35 left in regulation the LeRoy defense would hold strong and hold Dansville to 3 yards on four plays and a turnover on downs. The Knights took over at their 40 with 1:31 on the clock. After no gain on first down the Knights Luke Mosko would take the ball 60 yards down the home sideline for a Knights TOUCHDOWN! All knotted at 14 with the P.A.T. for LeRoy looming! Goodenough would sweep right following Carson “Nutter” Stiles and Ben Singleton sealing the edge for a Knights P.A.T.! LeRoy 16 Dansville 14. The Knight defense would hold Dansville without a first down and a turnover on downs as the offense came back out to take a knee. The 4-0 Knights head to GVB Saturday.
